Abstract

The freshwater turtle dataset comprises observational records collected from various regions within New South Wales (NSW), Australia. These records were obtained through a standardised method known as baited remote underwater video surveys (BRUVs), conducted across a range of aquatic habitats.

The dataset includes detailed information on freshwater turtle sightings, including species identification, spatial coordinates of each observation site, and additional environmental parameters such as water depth, temperature, and habitat characteristics.

Each record in the dataset provides valuable insights into the distribution, relative abundance, and habitat preferences of freshwater turtle populations in NSW. These data contribute to ongoing research and conservation efforts aimed at understanding and protecting these iconic and ecologically significant reptiles in their natural habitats.
