Abstract |
This data set is a map belonging to the 1:250 000 vegetation map series. This paper includes a detailed vegetation map together with a list of 300 species with 33 exotic species in 15 vegetation communities. There are several significant plant communities in the area with seven rare or endangered species. Only 1% of the region is in a formal conservation reserve. The map has been published in the ecological journal of the Royal Botanic Gardens, FOX, M.D. (1991) Cunninghamia 2(3): 443-493 VIS ID 1873 ANZNS0263000006 |

Lineage |
Vegetation mapped from quadrat samples, field traverses, aerial photography and LANDSAT Thematic Mapper satellite imagery. Published in Cunninghamia 2(3): 443-493 at a scale of 1:250,000. Digitising completed 1997 using Environmental - Resource Mapping System (ERMS) GIS. Errors corrected using ERMS prior to conversion to ArcView shapefile. |

DQ Completeness Commission |
|
Effective date |
2009-01-10 |
Explanation |
The dataset is complete with reference to range and field verification. The smallest Polygon is 50 Ha. |

DQ Conceptual Consistency |
|
Explanation |
The GIS package ERMS was used to do a topological consistency check to ensure all polygons are closed, nodes are formed at intersection of lines, all polygons are labelled once and there are no duplications. |
DQ Topological Consistency |
|
Explanation |
Checked for missing attributes All attributes were checked |
DQ Absolute External Positional Accuracy |
|
Explanation |
50m to 100m. Determination: Deductive estimate. Comparison with 1:100,000 layer data indicated good correlation but with errors of the order indicated above in terms of position. |
DQ Non Quantitative Attribute Correctness |
|
Explanation |
The Desc field indicates the vegetation classifications included in the mapping. These have been interpreted from aerial photographs, ground truthed and described by botanists and professionals from the Royal Botanic Gardens. |
