Abstract |
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) All Managed Land dataset combines following four separate NPWS datasets:
This combined dataset is for reporting purposes when it is deemed necessary to include all of the land that is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. Area hectares of each polygon have been generated in this dataset to assist reporting. Please note that the GIS area calculation was performed using Lamberts Conic Conformal (LCC) projection. This GIS calculated area will not be the same as the gazetted area or acquired area. The following is the description of layers included:
Additional fields have been added to the attribute table of the merged dataset to assist in determining management responsibilities. These are:

Additional information source |
Some additional field and interior linework for additions has been retained in a separate database. An important information table accompanies the merged dataset with descriptions of the Tenure Types and whether there are conditions to the field management of the land by NPWS. This table is named NPWS All Managed Land – Tenure types.pdf and is stored under P:\Corporate\Products\Tenure\CrownEstate. |

Lineage |
Updates are made on the occurrence of the gazettal of new reserves or additions to reserves. These are documented on a plan or a map by the Reserve Establishment & Land Information Section, NPWS. The Reserve Establishment & Land Information Section captures the reserve boundaries from the Digital Cadastral Database or digitises from these plans. The source maps used are of the best available scales of 1:4 000, 1:10 000, 1:25 000, 1:50 000 or 1:100 000. All linework is being progressively checked by the Reserve Establishment & Land Information Section. This is detailed in the 'checkdate' field in a separate database. Linework which has been captured from the Digital Cadastral Database is also detailed in the 'linework' field in a separate database. The positional accuracy of all other linework is dependent upon the scale of the source maps. |
