The mapped boundaries of PRIVATE WATER CORPORATIONS are mapped as polygons that can contain multiple parts and holes. Within a Geographic Information System (GIS) a multipart polygon means a single record or feature that is mapped by more than 1 discrete polygons. At creation all Private Works Corporations were described with a single perimeter and contiguous parcels with or without holes. However, amendments to Corporations can split a Corporations into multiple parts and Corporations described of a schedule of parcels may result in small corridors between parcels. Furthermore, the transition of water supply methods from channels to pipes has the implication of supply to discrete properties.
