Abstract |
A dataset of Native Vegetation Extent for NSW, prepared for the NRAC grassland mapping project NRP009 PART B. Raster grid, NSWVEGEXT08, with a land cover classification representing an experimental native non-woody and native woody vegetation extent. THIS DATASET IS NOT SUITABLE FOR USE IN THE FORMAL REPORTING OF NATIVE VEGETATION EXTENT. It is a composite product, synthesising inputs from a MODIS time series data cube (2000-2008), an fpc thresholded (SLATS) woody mask, and OEH's NSW Land Use vector layer (for woody nativeness). |

Within the GRID data, "NSWVEGEXT08", the primary attribute (WOOD_NATIV) provides the final 2008 classification with the following classes:; 0 Not Classified; 1 Cropping/modified pasture; 2. Possible candidate Native non-woody (residual ex-MODIS woody); 3. Most Likely Native Perennials; 4. Likely Native Perennials; 5. Most Likely Exotic / annuals present; 6. Likely Exotic Annuals present; 7. Water/Other; 8. FPC woody (mod density) - native; 9. FPC woody (high density) - native; 10. FPC woody (mod density) - non-native; 11. FPC woody (high density) - non-native; ; The classification is developed from a conditional decision tree processing of the MODIS time series statistics correlated to land cover types, with probability weightings based on frequency and recency (to 2008) of seasonal classes (see report for decision rule framework applied). The 4 woody classes were embedded to the classification as an overlay mask (probability=1), having been developed from SLATS fpc (density) and Land Use (nativeness) inputs. Accuracy assessments and report are also available. |
