Abstract

This point layer contains all offices or work locations where Planning, Environment and Heritage Group (EHG), Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT), Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and former offices of DPIE are located or where there is an affiliation to a site. The layer contains many attribute fields that can be used to filter and label the data appropriately and for different uses. There is also information about addresses, office server names, approx. staff numbers, SAP HR codes etc. Some abbreviations are listed below:

Purpose

The layer provides physical office and staff locations for maps. Analysis such as proximity to towns and drive times to parks for NPWS rangers and field officers can be undertaken using this layer. The attribute table contains other information such as addresses, building and server names as well as rough staff numbers etc.

NPWS offices have been captured since the early 2000s. As new offices have been established, new parts of the agency added and as offices are closed this dataset has been edited accordingly over the years. Now that the Cluster is so large and there are sites with multiple divisions it has been necessary to add individual fields for those divisions for filtering. Various fields have been added when useful information is located eg. server names, bandwidth, rough staff numbers (if known). The point locations are mostly screen digitised over imagery or a topographic background. Spreadsheet data is joined in to enhance the attribute table.

Explanation

Some data in attribute table becomes out of date easily eg. staff numbers. In restructures many labels are incorrect until the name has become official. Some names are commonly known names rather than the official names but all measures have been taken to correct these and store in appropriate field for different usage.
