Purpose | This is a research grade product generated using L-band radar imagery from ALOS PALSAR. The model was calibrated using field plot measurements of tree diameters from which above ground biomass (AGB) was estimated using allometric equations. Empirical relationships were established between HH and HV backscatter and AGB. The study also explored the impact of surface moisture conditions on biomass retrieval using L-band radar. The full method is published in Lucas et al. (2010). The product is unvalidated but may be useful for woody vegetation change monitoring and carbon accounting applications. |
